A few more cherry blossoms...

Kenwood neighborhood cherry blossoms (bright yellow forsythia in the foreground)

Eila and bunny under the cherry trees

I heard of a neighborhood called Kenwood from our neighbor and it sounded like a fairy tale - a place where all of the streets are lined with beautiful Japanese cherry trees that arch over the roads like a big pink rainbow. I had to go see it today and it was spectacular. I took a few more pictures- but still wasn't able to get any amazing shots as I was by myself with Eila and it was cold outside- in the 40's - burr!

Cherry blossoms at their peak!

I went with Eila and our great friend Lara down to DC yesterday with the masses of others to admire the peaking of the cherry blossoms aroud the tidal basin. They were breathtaking. The weather was fantastic- cool air with the warmth of the sun from the clear blue sky. Eila fell asleep in the stroller after running around the Washington monument watching the kite festival, so we didn't actually get as many photos as I would have liked, but here are a few.

The other new development for our little gymnast is that little Eila has escaped her crib already last week. Yes, the bed is on the lowest level- she is just some kind of athlete. Luckily, no major injuries. So, if anyone deals with this issue, they make something called a crib tent (a netted tent that seals over the top of the crib). We bought one after the event. She isn't even 1 yet- it seems impossible. She is definitely training me to be a better pediatrician.

Eila on the bench - US adoption day

crazy climber

Eila loves the change in the weather and wakes up to say good morning to the flowers every day. Spring is great! We had a little tiny Easter party with cousin Keya in our front yard on Sunday and we've been to the zoo and the park and out to the mall (in DC- not to go shopping) several times since it has been nice outside. Our favorite place to hang out is the botanical gardens in DC.
We celebrated her US Adoption at the court in Baltimore to officially change her name on March 7.
Eila now loves to turn on (and up) the music, she loves to dance, she climbs on everything, and she has 7 teeth, probably with the 8th on the way to even it out. Her first birthday is just already just around the corner in April!

Monkey see, monkey do

Eila in her Vietnamese gown (above 3 shots)

Eila and Katherine

Eila is at a very fun stage (although I am out of breath chasing her most of the time). It is great to watch her learning so fast. She is running around, climbing everything and she loves playing "where is Eila" and copying what you do. She went from speaking a few words to constant nonsensical jabber. She also added a new word to her vocabulary- un-yah (for yak). We had a very fun visit with our friend Katherine last weekend (and we missed her husband Brooks!). Eila got dressed up in her turquoise Vietnamese gown to get some pictures for her great grandma, so I thought I would post. We'll do some professional shots soon, probably sometime around her birthday in April.
